About Our Doctor

Dr Soosiwala was born in Durban and attended Orient Islamic Secondary school from 1993 to 1997.  

He attended the Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine in Durban from 1998 to 2003 where he obtained his MBChB.

 

Education and Training

  • He has a Diploma in Anaesthetics from the College of Medicine, SA in September 2005 with a course in Neonatal Resuscitation (ATLS, ACLS, PALS).
  • In October 2009 he was awarded the Fellowship of the College of Physician’s in South Africa and Certificate Cardiology (SA) 2013.
  • He served his Internship at Tygerberg Hospital from January to December 2004 and did his Community Service at Port Shepstone Hospital from January to December 2005.
  • During this time he obtained his Diploma in Anaesthetics (DA) (SA).
  • He served as the Medical Officer in the Department of Cardiology at Inkosi Albert Hospital from January to December 2006 and served as Registrar of Internal Medicine at the University of Natal Medical School from January 2007 to July 2010.
  • From August 2010 to December 2010 he served as Consultant of Internal Medicine at Mahatma Gandhi Hospital.
  • He was employed as Cardiology Fellow at the Department of Cardiology, Inkosi Albert Hospital from January 2011 to December 2013 and served as Cardiology Consultant from January 2014 to August 2014.
  • From September 2014 to 2015 he was employed at the Department of Cardiology at Grey’s Hospital as Director of the Cath Lab.
  • He thereafter entered into Private Practice at Lenmed Ethekwini Hospital and Heart Centre as an independent cardiologist on 1 April 2016.
