What to expect
Fully equipped to treat and manage the following cardiac-related conditions:
Heart Attack (Myocardial Infarction)
Occurs when blood flow to a part of the heart muscle is blocked, leading to tissue damage or death. Symptoms include chest pain or discomfort, shortness of breath, nausea, sweating, and pain or discomfort in other areas of the upper body.
Cardiac Arrest
Sudden loss of heart function, causing the heart to stop beating effectively. It is a life-threatening emergency that requires immediate CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and defibrillation to restore normal heart rhythm.
Arrhythmias
Abnormal heart rhythms that can cause the heart to beat too fast (tachycardia), too slow (bradycardia), or irregularly. Severe arrhythmias can lead to loss of consciousness, cardiac arrest, or sudden cardiac death.
Heart Failure Exacerbation
Occurs when the heart is unable to pump blood efficiently, leading to fluid buildup in the lungs and other tissues. Symptoms include shortness of breath, fatigue, swelling of the legs and ankles, and rapid weight gain.
Aortic Dissection
A tear in the inner layer of the aorta, the large blood vessel that carries blood from the heart to the rest of the body. Symptoms may include sudden, severe chest or back pain, shortness of breath, sweating, and fainting.
Pulmonary Embolism
Occurs when a blood clot lodges in one of the pulmonary arteries in the lungs, blocking blood flow. Symptoms include sudden onset of chest pain, shortness of breath, rapid heartbeat, coughing up blood, and fainting.
Cardiogenic Shock
Sudden Cardiac Arrest in Children
Although less common, sudden cardiac arrest can also occur in children due to underlying heart conditions or other factors. It requires immediate CPR and defibrillation. It’s important to recognize the signs and symptoms of these cardiac emergencies and seek prompt medical attention. Early intervention can significantly improve outcomes and save lives.
